Yemisi T. Abiona Yemisi T. Abiona, LCSW, LCADC (NJ Lic #44SC05467700) is both a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the State of New Jersey. Yemisi is currently a PhD candidate (ABD) at Walden University, Clinical Psychology track. She graduated from Kean University with a Master Degree in Social work. Yemisi also has extensive education, training, and experience in the field of substance abuse/addictions and mental health. Yemisi has worked and continue to work in the mental health/substance abuse/dependence field for 19 years, in New Jersey State.

Yemisi is known for a compassionate and tranquil approach to counseling.  Yemisi is an eclectic Psychotherapist, which means that she utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities and therapies that are individualized to accommodate each client’s need and client centered. Yemisi's approach involves sincere caring, acceptance, and non-judgmental interaction. Yemisi works with clients from a strength-based, positive, and affirming perspectives.  Yemisi covers a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, Borderline Personality disorder, ADHD, other mental health disorders, unresolved emotional issues, self-esteem/self-empowerment, grief and loss, marriage counseling, relationship/family concerns, individual counseling for personal and emotional growth, creating meaning and purpose, in one's life/living a more fulfilled life, and various other issues. Yemisi's specialties also include working with clients with substance abuse/dependence and co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance abuse disorders). Yemisi works with children starting at age 3 to adults. Yemisi is a contracted provider on most local insurance panels, and is the CEO of Innovative Supportive Services, LLC,  where she has used her passion and expertise to provide years of successful therapeutic intervention for youth and their family members.

Akhirah S. Lewis

Dr. Akhirah S. Lewis, PhD, LPC, HS-BCP is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of New Jersey (NJ License #37PC00716500) and a Psychologist (Permit# TP 213-020). Akhirah graduated with a BS in Human Services from Thomas Edison University and went on to earn her Master’s in Psychology from the University of Phoenix in 2009 and Master's in Philosophy from Walden University in 2019. Akhirah continued her studies postgraduate and earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Walden University. Akhirah's research for her dissertation examined treatment barriers African-American women in past abusive relationships confront. Akhirah completed clinical externship/internship hours at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ as Pre-Doctoral intern. Akhirah also completed a Post-Doc as a Psychologist.

 Akhirah has a professional certification as a Human Services-Board Certified Practitioner (HS-BCP) gained through the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE). Akhirah has a background in Psychology, Psychotherapy, and Crisis Intervention. Akhirah has over 10 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults suffering from trauma, anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, conduct disorders, anger, grief, self-esteem, adjustment, and other common challenges experienced in their daily lives. Akhirah has training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Person-Centered Brief Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Akhirah feels that providing a safe space, free of judgement, is essential to helping individuals gain better understanding and discover strategies to improve their functioning and relationships with others. By using a variety of therapeutic approaches, Akhirah engages clients and fosters a nurturing environment for growth. Akhirah enjoys working with a diverse population including geriatric and at-risk youth. Akhirah has academia experience, in addition to clinical. Akhirah is an adjunct professor of Psychology and Human Services with hands-on professional and academic experience at local universities. Akhirah teaches Introduction to Psychology, Theories of Personality, Human Relations, Psychology of Adjustment, Understanding Social Behavior, Social Inequality: Gender, Race and Class, and Marriage & Family. Akhirah also obtained certifications in Measurable Learning Objectives (2017) and Designing Your Blended Course (2017). Akhirah is a recipient of the Joel A. Kobert Adjunct Teaching Award (2017).

Lewis LLC, which provides professional services that include human and social services, consultation, public speaking, and psychoeducation.
